New Smyrna Beach, FL – Florida Surf Film Festival (FSFF) is proud to announce the official selections for the feature film and short film categories for its first annual festival, November 15-16, 2013, at Atlantic Center for the Arts. Passes and ticket packages are available at here, and individual tickets will be on sale at the festival for $15 per evening and $25 for a two-night pass. Florida Surf Film Festival’s screening panel, comprised of five individuals with journalistic, cultural, and/or experiential factor(s) will determine recognition for the following awards:
- Best Picture – Feature
- Best Cinematography – Feature
- Best Soundtrack – Feature
- Best Short Film
- Viewers’ Choice Award
Screening panelists include Jamie Brisick, Matt Kechele, Richie Fitzgerald, Allison Arteaga, and Bryan Forand.
The 2013 program focuses on presenting new work by independent filmmakers and exploring the interplay between independent documentary films, surfing, our culture, and music. The program announced today includes eight feature films and fourteen short films. Filmmakers from all over the world submitted over 120 films from which the FSFF made their official selections. The program includes films documenting surfing from far eastern Russia, Australia, Morocco, Italy, and many more locations.
Cigar City Brewing and Green Room Brewing will serve as the festival’s official beer sponsors, presenting in the Pugh Sculpture Studio and the Mark and Margery Pabst Visitors Center and Gallery.
Clancy’s Cantina and Café Verde will serve as the festival’s official food sponsor, presented in the Whatmore Commons during the festival, as well as hosting a dinner for filmmakers and patrons on Thursday, November 14, 2013, with Irish Big Wave Surfer, Richie Fitzgerald as host.
Kulcha Shok Muzic will serve as the festival’s official music sponsor and will provide entertainment at Atlantic Center for the Arts.
Other sponsors so far include Spy Eyewear, Creatures of Leisure, Total Vision, Brian Layman Financial Services, Surfrider Foundation (Volusia Flagler Chapter), Drink Chia, Red Dog Surf Shop, and Kembali. A silent auction featuring our sponsors’ products will be held in the Everbach Painting Studio.
The Florida Surf Film Festival’s mission is to invigorate Florida surf culture through film appreciation and artistic expression by exhibiting contemporary films from filmmakers far and wide.

No Hodads Allowed, a film by Kem McNair, will be featured in the Pugh Sculpture Studio as part of our local history focus on surf culture and personalities in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
