Chad Campbell Joins Feature Documentary Film Jury

New Smyrna Beach, FL —  Chad Campbell produced and directed one of the best surf documentary films ever made in our humble opinion.  It was the kind of footage and sound that was worth repeating…  for your friends, for your students (I was teaching 7th grade at the time – before and after class), for your parents who don’t surf, for your neighbor over a beer, and your kids to name a few.  But putting it on repeat didn’t really do it for us.  We needed to seek out and bring Chad to the Florida Surf Film Festival presented by Monster Energy, and despite his involvement with his enduring surf film festival in Kona (12 years now!), we can’t imagine a better aesthetic and lens through which to judge this year’s entrants for competition in the feature length category of the Florida Surf Film Festival.  While he won’t be able to attend in person, we greatly appreciate and are honored to have his input for our festival.

Chad Campbell is an award-winning filmmaker from Hawaii whose films include Surfer Magazine‘s “2001 Video of the Year” The 5th Symphony Document and the Shane Dorian biopic, The Blueprint. He is also the founder and chief organizer of the Kona Surf Film Festival, which is in its 12th year.  In addition to film work, he spends time as a Tavarua boatman.

The Florida Surf Film Festival’s mission is to invigorate Florida surf culture through film appreciation and artistic expression by exhibiting contemporary films from filmmakers far and wide.
